Oral hygiene is a set of hygiene practices that aim to prevent and treat oral diseases, being decisive in maintaining treatments carried out in other specialties of dentistry (Implantology, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, …).
By suggesting and demonstrating specific techniques, the dentist/hygienist creates conditions for the patient to implement improvements in oral hygiene habits (correct brushing, flossing, use of specific mouthwashes/pastes).
It is essential to have regular consultations, generally every 6 months, to remove tartar and plaque to maintain a healthy smile and prevent gum disease and the appearance of new cavities, thus avoiding more complex and expensive treatments.
